Project Overview
Project Background
We are creating a new app to connect people to their favorite pierogies and expedite orders based on location. We need to find out if the locational based search function successfully expedites orders based on where the user is at the time of the order. We’d also like to understand the specific challenges that users might face in the ordering process and checkout experience.
User research
Conducted to understand our target audience's behaviors, preferences, and challenges. Using a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods like interviews, surveys, and usability testing, valuable insights were gathered to guide design decisions. By prioritizing the user's perspective, opportunities for improvement and innovation were identified, ensuring our solutions are tailored to meet real user needs effectively.
Problem statements
These statements distill complex issues into concise, actionable insights, guiding our design decisions towards addressing the most pressing problems. By clearly defining the problems at hand, we can focus our efforts on developing solutions that directly tackle the root causes and deliver meaningful value to our users. Serving as a compass, ensuring that our design solutions are purposeful and aligned with user needs, ultimately leading to more effective and impactful outcomes.
Wireframes and prototypes
These wireframes aim to visualize and test different design ideas and outline the basic structure of the interface, while the prototypes provide interactive demos for user feedback to be used in the usability studies. These tools were crucial in refining our design concepts and ensuring they align with the project goals.
Usability studies
Carefully structured tests and observations, we assessed how users interacted with the product, identifying areas of friction, confusion, or inefficiency. By observing real users navigate through tasks and scenarios, we gained valuable insights into their behaviors, preferences, and pain points. These findings guided iterative improvements to the design, ensuring that it is intuitive, efficient, and enjoyable to use. Usability studies played a critical role in validating design decisions, refining the user experience, and ultimately delivering a product that meets the needs and expectations of our target audience.
TAKEAWAYS
Overall impact was seen as an improvement in the process for users to complete orders. Continued iteration and incorporating feedback from the community will improve the final product. It is essential to conduct another round of usability studies along with launching an AMA within the community.
User journey maps
These maps visualize the complete user experience, uncovering insights to optimize user flow and enhance satisfaction. These maps offer a shared understanding across teams, aligning efforts to deliver a seamless and delightful user experience.
Personas
These personas serve as a valuable tool for understanding our audience's needs and preferences, guiding design decisions to create a user-centered experience. By empathizing with the personas' perspectives, we can ensure that our solutions effectively address their challenges and provide meaningful value.
Low-fi prototype
These prototypes were simple and sketch-like, allowing for rapid experimentation and feedback gathering. By focusing on basic layouts and functionalities, we were able to identify usability issues and refine our ideas early in the design process.
High-fi prototype
These prototypes featured polished visuals, interactive elements, and refined interactions, closely resembling the final product. Overall, they played a pivotal role in ensuring that our final product meets both user needs and business objectives effectively.
